Add a team lead and set permissions

Updated today

In this article we explain how to set up a team lead’s permissions.

What can a team lead do?

A team lead has access to all data of the colleagues in their team and can also view every colleague’s basic profile. So a team lead can view not only their own personnel files, but also their team’s files. The team lead also has access to features such as leave, sickness absence, hours, and reports. A team lead only sees data relating to their team.

These rights are limited: for example, they can only add and approve items such as leave requests, not delete them. They also don’t have access by default to contracts, terms of employment, and documents.

The team lead also receives all notifications from team members (e.g. a new leave request).

Make a colleague a team lead

In the teams overview

You can make a colleague a team lead at Colleagues > Teams > Manage teams. You’ll see an overview of all teams here and, by clicking Edit, you can add a team lead.

If you make someone a team lead this way, that team lead gets the standard team lead rights. You can expand these rights via the personnel file.

In the personnel file

In the employee’s personnel file under Settings you can change user permissions and set the role to team lead. Here, besides the standard team lead rights, you can also grant additional rights (e.g. documents, contracts, and employment terms).

The rights only apply to a team lead’s team members; they can never see information about colleagues outside their team.

Team leads can only view, edit, and add items. Deleting items is never possible; only admins can do this.

Overview of all roles and rights

In the company settings, under 'User permissions', you get a complete overview of all access rights within your organisation. Here you can see exactly which colleagues have access and who has team lead or admin rights, and you can make changes directly from here.
