It’s possible that an employee want to revoke their requested holiday. But how do you revoke a leave request? Can an employee or employer just revoke leave requests? You’ll learn how to revoke a leave request and how we’ve made this easy for you in HoorayHR.

Can an employee revoke their leave request?

It’s possible that an employee want to revoke their requested holiday. The starting point is that the employee has submitted their request for leave and that the period of leave has thus been determined. An employee can request to revoke their leave, but it is up to the employer to approve this decision. As an employer, you are not obliged to revoke the leave request, but of course it is nice to come to an agreement.

Can an employer revoke the leave request of an employee?

Employers have the authority to revoke leave requests. You should discuss revoking a previously approved leave request with your employee. However, there are considerable reasons to revoke an employee’s holiday. For example, when a direct colleague falls ill or when there is a sudden spike in the workload. Though, it might be that you have to reimburse the expenses already made by the employee, such as a booked holiday. Do try to discuss this and resolve it together.

Revoking leave requests in HoorayHR

To ensure a complete leave registration, all leave requests are always shown within HoorayHR. An approved leave request can be revoked by both employee and employer. This is so that the employee can be in control of their leave requests.

Employers and team leaders get an automatic notification when an employee revokes their leave request. Revoked leave requests always remain visible in HoorayHR, so that both administrators and team leaders can check the revoked leave request and reinstate it if necessary.

An employee can revoke a leave request by clicking “revoke”.

Administrators can both delete and revoke leave requests, as to keep the leave administration well-organised.

In the reports with the overviews of leave requests, revoked leave requests always remain visible.

The administrator and/or team leader receives an e-mail that the leave request has been revoked and the possibility to check the revoked leave request. This way your leave administration is always in sync with HoorayHR!
