Problems with two-factor authentication

Updated this week

When you activate two-factor authentication (2FA), the code might not be accepted. This often happens because your phone and, for example, your laptop use different time or time zone settings. That means the generated code doesn’t match what the system expects.

Check your time settings

Check whether the time zone on your phone is set correctly. You can easily check this via https://time.is. Also make sure the date and time synchronise automatically, preferably via the network. Finally, make sure all your devices use the same time zone.

If the time on both devices isn’t exactly the same, you can get a mismatch when you generate and enter the 2FA code. You’ll often fix 2FA issues by reviewing the settings above and adjusting them where needed.
