For each leave type, you can choose to automatically block a leave request when the current budget isn't sufficient.
How does it work?
When you enable this setting, the system checks on each leave request whether the budget available at that moment is sufficient. If the available budget is lower than the number of requested hours, the employee can't submit the request.
Example:
An employee wants to request 40 hours of leave, but only has 36 hours available at that moment. The request is then blocked.
Team leads and admins always get a warning when the budget is exceeded, but they can still choose to approve the request. This can lead to a negative leave budget.
Good to know
The system always checks the current available budget. It doesn't include future changes (e.g. expiry or allocation of extra hours).
This setting is less suitable for recurring leave types such as holiday. At the end of the year, an employee might have to wait until 1 January when new budget becomes available.
For one-off leave types, such as parental leave, this setting is very suitable.
