With compensation settings, you decide how extra recorded hours are processed: as time off in lieu or a payout. By setting up compensation types and rules in advance, you set clear rules and automate processing of overtime or allowances.
Manage compensation types
Before you start with compensation rules, set the compensation types company-wide. For each type you choose:
Type
payout or time off in lieuPercentage
e.g. 25%, 100% or 150%
These types form the basis for all forms of compensation.
Three ways to compensate
Depending on your policy, you can apply compensation in three ways:
Set up manual compensations
Give colleagues the option to choose a compensation type when logging hours. In the hours policy, you decide which types are available and which type is suggested by default.

Set up automatic overtime
Set rules that automatically grant a compensation for overtime. You choose after how many hours this applies, which type to apply, and whether to calculate this per day or per week.

Set up premium rules
Add automatic premium rules for specific days or time slots, e.g. evenings, weekends or public holidays. This automatically adds the right percentage to a time entry.

Note: The system only applies compensation rules when an employee logs hours that meet the conditions. You’ll also see the assigned compensations in the employee profile.
