Edit a time policy and assign it straight away

Updated today

It may happen that you want to adjust an existing time policy, for example due to changed working hours, breaks, or allowances. You can edit the policy and choose whether to overwrite the existing policy or save it as a new version with a future start date.

Edit and save a time policy

To edit an existing time policy, go to the time policy overview and click the policy you want to change. Then adjust the settings you want, such as fixed break rules or allowances.

Click save when you're done. You can now choose between:

  • save as new version (recommended)

  • save current policy

Save the time policy as a new version (recommended)

With 'save as new version', you choose a future start date. From that date, the updated policy applies to all colleagues who are currently linked to the current version.

The original policy ends automatically and gets an end date in its name, so you can clearly tell the old and new policies apart.

Save the current time policy

With 'save current policy', you apply the changes directly to the existing policy. This means the system recalculates all time entries based on the new settings, including all approved entries. For example, changes to compensation rules, overtime, or compliance settings.

Note: Only changes to fixed breaks do not apply retroactively. All other changes apply immediately and can affect existing or approved entries, including granted compensations.

Use this option only if you intentionally want to make a change retroactively. In all other cases, we always recommend saving the policy as a new version.
